BISHOP BONNIE HUNTER
Bishop Bonnie Hunter is the Founder and Pastor Emeritus of the Friendship Church Outreach Ministry, Inc.. She has been married for 53 years to Elijah Hunter, with four children and nine grandchildren.
She attended the University of the District of Columbia. She continued her education at Logo’s Christian College and Graduate School where she is a recipient of a Bachelor’s Degree as well as a Master’s Degree. On March 10, 2002 she received an Honorary Doctorate degree from the Eastern North Carolina Theological Institute. She later earned a Doctorate Degree in July 2005 from Word of Faith Christian College & Graduate School.
Humble beginnings, Friendship Church was founded on December 3, 1995, with 10 members and has grown to 400+ and is still growing. In September 2001, the Lord blessed Friendship to purchase their own church building, 5252 Addison Rd, Chapel Oaks, Md. In August of 2008, the Mortgage was paid off. In December 2014, Friendship purchased an adjacent property at 5396 Sheriff Road, Capital Heights, MD., for Outreach purposes and office space. This property was paid off in September 2016. Bishop Hunter is the first licensed “Woman Pastor” of the International Bible Way Churches Worldwide, where Apostle Lawrence G. Campbell was the Presiding Prelate in July 2000. In July of 2006, she was the First “Woman to become a District Elder (Overseer)”. She served as the President over the Pastors’ Council for 8 years and a member of the Board of Directors. She served as Vice President over the International Training Institute.
On Friday, July 6th, 2018 at the 61st Holy Convocation, she was consecrated as the First Female Bishop in the International Bible Way Churches Worldwide. On Sunday, November 4, 2018th, she launched “Kingdom Fellowship of Churches, Inc.”, where she serves as the Presiding Prelate. The Fellowship has grown to 24 churches. Nine Pastors were birthed out of her work. She also, oversees several churches in Kenya. She is a Pastor of Pastors. In May 2019, she was appointed the Auxiliary Bishop over the International Bible Way Missionary Department and Women’s Department.
As Founder and pastoring FCOM for 29 years, being led of the Lord, in September 2022, Bishop Hunter passed the mantle to her son-in-law, Elder Dameion Roy, Sr., who is now her successor of the Friendship Church Outreach Ministry. She is now focusing on a greater work that God has given to her to do and enjoying the fruit of her labor. In July 2024, she was appointed as the “first woman to be a Diocesan” of the International Bible Way Churches. Bishop Hunter serves as a trailblazer for the Women of God.
Bishop Bonnie Hunter is a sought after speaker and is fully committed to the things of God. She is a praiser and worshipper and will lift up the name of Jesus anywhere and everywhere she goes. She loves the assignment the Lord has called her to do, and that is “Reaching and Preaching” for Jesus, with the reward of souls being won to the Kingdom of God.”
